Len’s Appliance was founded 60 years ago - shortly after Lenny graduated from High School. The son of Russian immigrants, Lenny learned appliance repair from his father. Lenny’s father owned several Laundromats in Bedford Stuyvesant & Borough Park, Brooklyn. Lenny worked alongside his father gaining valuable knowledge in business, customer service and maintain and repair the Laundromat’s washing machines and dryers. From there, he was asked by his parent’s friends, family and neighbors to fix their home appliances. Len’s Appliance was born. The first location was on 80th Street off of 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge, servicing both residential and commercial customers on install and repair of all major appliances. The business grew mainly through referrals and recommendations. In the late 1960’s early 1970’s Lenny started to hire apprentices who he taught the trade and they were loyal and dedicated employees. In the early 1980’s Len’s Appliance moved to 3rd Avenue between 84th & 85th Streets and was a staple in Bay Ridge until early 2000’s. Len’s Appliance continued to grow and then relocated to 7th Ave and 81st Street in Dyker Heights where it now resides. In the late 1990’s Lenny’s son Elliot joined the family business and has expanded Len’s Appliance even more with servicing high end appliance install and repair. Len’s has been the go to appliance repair service for many families and businesses to ensure their appliances are well maintained. Since the beginning, Lenny has always taken pride on being a teacher and continues the idea of hiring apprentices to learn the art of appliance repair and install while instilling the importance of business and customer service. Lenny has said over the years the best customers are the repeat customer and the recommended customer. This has only proven success as today Len’s appliance proudly has 2nd and 3rd generation customers. Elliot continues this mantra as he develops the next generation.
